Compost Toilets for Campsite

Compost toilets come in all shapes and sizes — and that's part of what we love about them. Every customer build looks different because every site, every aesthetic and every set of constraints is different.

Here's an example from South Africa featuring one of our urine separators, designed and built by Paul's brother's furniture-making business Sylvantutch. It's a campsite installation — functional, well-built, and clearly somewhere you'd be happy to use a loo.

For campsite use the same principles apply as for any compost toilet: divert the urine away from the solids at source, keep the solids dry with sawdust or wood shavings, and ventilate the chamber. Get those three right and the toilets stay odour-free even with heavy seasonal use.

Compost toilets for your campsite

Glamping sites, campsites and festivals are some of the most common projects we supply separators for. We work directly with site operators on bulk orders — see our Wholesale & Trade page for tiered pricing.

For a single-toilet build, the original £31 separator is what most campsite operators choose for cost-effective bulk installations. For a polished, all-in-one solution with a built-in filter, the Complete separator is worth the extra £9.
