Why urine separation makes all the difference
Almost all the odour in a composting or dry toilet comes not from solid waste but from what happens when urine and solids mix. Keep the two apart and the problem disappears: solids dry out and compost properly, the ammonia smell never develops, and you empty the system far less often. A urine separator isn't an optional extra — it's the foundation of a toilet that actually works.
Designed to fit — and how to get it right
We make the Compact slimline on purpose and supply it to trim to size, so it fits the widest possible range of seats and builds. Because every build is a little different, it's designed to be positioned and adjusted to suit yours — get the position right and it catches everything cleanly.
- Position it to fill the front third of the seat hole, mounted on the underside of the platform — this is where it catches everything cleanly.
- Men: sit to use it, and if there's any contact with the plastic, add a thin spacer to lift the seat slightly — problem solved.
- Trim to fit: the ABS cuts easily with a jigsaw or multi-tool for a custom seat.

Easy to fit
Fix the separator to the underside of your seat platform with runners or screws, and connect the outlet to standard waste pipe — no specialist tools or plumbing knowledge needed.
Connecting your pipe: the tapered outlet fits standard 1¼" (32 mm) push-fit or solvent-weld waste pipe. Because push-fit and solvent-weld pipe differ slightly, the fit is a deliberate compromise so it works with both — if it's snug, lightly deburr the inside edge of the pipe, or use a 1¼" connector to slip it on easily. Then route the pipe to a soakaway, a collection container, or a dilution tank for liquid feed.

What pipe fits the outlet?
Standard 1¼" (32 mm) waste pipe, push-fit or solvent-weld. If it's snug, deburr the pipe's inner edge or use a 1¼" connector. (US buyers: 1¼" vinyl tubing also fits.)
Does it work for men and women?
Yes — it's shaped for all users after extensive research into diverting urine cleanly for both. Position it correctly and, for men, add a thin spacer if there's any contact with the plastic (see “Designed to fit”).
What's the difference between the Compact and the Complete?
The Compact is the smaller, lightweight original, supplied to trim to size — perfect for self-builds with their own pipework. The Complete is a full unit that fills the whole seat oval and includes a removable metal filter. Both share the same funnel and outlet.
Can I cut it to fit?
Yes — the ABS trims easily with a jigsaw or multi-tool.
